The primary objective of creating Y. Development Cooperation Company was to serve under privileged villagers in Northern Thailand by generating ways of earning incomes among the poor and disadvantaged by providing these villagers with various types of vocational handicraft training.
Once villagers become proficient and skillful, YC then helps them to market their handicraft products locally and internationally, which increases selling opportunities and income earning potential for these villagers. Moreover, YC also encourages a high quality of life for villagers by ensuring a healthy and safe working environment through constant examination and evaluation of work-related issues such as wages, working hours and by using environmentally friendly production methods to minimize the use of harmful industrial chemicals workers and consumers are exposed to.
The majority of our producers are women. Our program offers them increased self-confidence through self-employment. This new found self-reliance encourages and empowers them to stand up for their individual rights.
